New Engineering Pre-Traineeship Program

Opportunity to put Youth to Work.

Recruit Personnel have just released a Pre-Traineeship program to support Hunter youth with skills development in the Engineering trade.

Our Pre-Traineeship Engineering program commenced in October and ran over 15 days, followed by one week work placement.

Recruit Personnel will work with graduates to place them into a Certificate II Engineering traineeship with local businesses.

  • Pre-Traineeship Program – Work, Health & Safety & Welding
  • 1 week of work placement
  • Work Placement support into a Certificate II in Engineering traineeship under an on-hire model.

Units Delivered:

  • MEM13014A –  Apply principles of occupational health and safety in the work environment
  • MEM18001C – Use hand tools
  • MEM18002B – Use power tools/hand held operations
  • MEM05012C – Perform routine manual metal arc welding

Overview:

  • Rutherford based
  • Traineeship lasts for 12 months and can be rolled over into a Year 2 Apprenticeship.
  • Pre-traineeship runs Monday-Friday from 8am – 4pm in Rutherford.
  • Followed by 1 week of work experience

AS a business, if you choose to take on a Trainee Engineer, Recruit Personnel will look after the trainee under our On-Hire model.

This model will see Recruit Personnel as the Employer of the Trainee and your business as the host employer.  As the Host Employer, you will be charged the relevant hourly rate dependent upon the selected Trainee’s level of school education.  All charge out rates include the hourly rate of pay, training costs, superannuation contributions, worker’s compensation, payroll tax, public indemnity insurance and all administration costs and are in line with the appropriate  Industry Award.   You will be invoiced monthly – its an easy solution for your business.

Business Administration Traineeships across Maitland, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley

On-Hire Model

Adopting the Trainee On-Hire model is an excellent option in bringing new people through your business who have not necessarily had any previous office experience, however, in some instances they have had exposure through their Business Studies at School in completing a Certificate II.

This model will see Recruit Pesonnel as the Employer of the Trainee and your business as the host employer.  We take care of all training costs and will organise everything for you including liaising with NSW Education & Communities in relation to the signing of the Trainee and in turn, engage an appropriate Registered Training Organisation for the training aspect after an approximate 6-8 week period to ensure that the Trainee is a good fit for you, and vice-versa.

Your commitment to the Trainee would include mentoring, supervising and the opportunity for the Trainee to complete their training for a minimum of 3 hours per week on site.

As the Host Employer, you will be charged the relevant hourly rate dependent upon the selected Trainee’s level of school education. Our model is for the provision of a Trainee for 38 hours per week over 52 weeks – day work.  It means that you will be charged 38 hours per week – 52 weeks of the year and the Trainee will be entitled to personal leave, annual leave etc. allowing them to feel a part of the permanent team.

The Trainee will undertake a qualification as required on the job and be hosted out as full time trainees over a 12 month period.  A Trainer will visit your premises on a regular basis to support the Trainee through their studies.  The schedule for visits will be pre-arranged to ensure there is no disruption to your business.

If you are dissatisfied with the performance of the trainee, we would ask for an opportunity to correct the issue. However you have the right to hand back the trainee with 1 weeks’ notice.

Should our employee’s hours exceed 8 hours in one day, or 38 hours a week, they are entitled to overtime – these rates will be provided in further detail should the on-hire option be your preference.

At the conclusion of their training, should the Trainee transition to direct employment with your business, a placement fee will not be applicable.

All charge out rates quoted incorporate the hourly rate of pay, training costs, superannuation contributions, worker’s compensation, payroll tax, public indemnity insurance and all administration costs and are in line with the appropriate  Industry Award. 

On the 1st of January the following year, the Trainee is entitled to a statutory increase as per the relevent award.
